Zhang Jinyuan and Wang Mei held a Tibetan-style wedding on Jan 13 at a frontier post in Yumai, Tibet autonomous region, by the foot of Qomolangma, also known as Mount Everest in the West.
The husband and wife, from Southwest China's Chongqing, were married on April 26, 2018, but Zhang needed to leave for Tibet before they could hold a proper wedding.
Zhang, 30, had in 2017 volunteered to become a political instructor in Yumai, which, located just north of Qomolangma, is the least populated town in China with only 32 residents in 2017.

Wang, 23, hadn't seen her husband for about eight months, so decided to pay him a visit before Spring Festival, which falls on Feb 4 this year.
"I am the wife of a frontier guard and I should go to see the frontier myself," Wang said.
But she never expected such a challenging journey to reach the post. On Jan 10, she first flew to Tibetan capital, Lhasa. Suffering severe altitude sickness, she climbed five snowy mountains over 4,500 meters above sea level via SUV in two days.
"The road was so dangerous and I was so sick. I held the handrail so tight that my hands were sweaty," she said.

It took her, in all, 52 hours to reach her destination.
With the help of his colleagues and local villagers, Zhang surprised his wife with a grand wedding ceremony.
One of the villagers lent Wang a beautiful Tibetan robe for her wedding gown. Zhang made a wedding ring with a bullet shell for his wife.
Then the couple planted a tree together to commemorate their love.
"I love him because he is a responsible man. He will have my full support stationed at the frontier, protecting our country," Wang said.
