The 30th Spring International Music Festival is set to open on April 28th. This year's event will feature 52 singing and dancing performances, including artists from the United States, France, Russia and Japan.
For the first time, the festival will include a piano competition with contestants playing on the spot or in a video posted online. It's open to all Chinese people living anywhere around the globe. Contestants can simply upload a video of themselves playing the piano and post it to their Weibo account. 5,000 people have already signed up for the contest - the youngest being 3 years old and the oldest 78. An international chorus week will also be held, featuring choirs from nine countries.
