Ballets wouldn't be complete without some classical music. Chinese rhythms have resounded once again in the golden concert hall of Vienna. For the first time, artists from the Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao gathered together for a Chinese New Year Concert to wow audiences half away across the globe.
The concert kicks off with the Roman Carnival Overture.
An orchestra suite specially designed for overseas Chinese has deeply moved the audience. The melody derives from a famous Chinese folk song. It tells the story of how the people left their hometown to make a living.
The conductor spoke about how it translated emotions into music.
Lv Jia, Conductor, said, "There are a lot of emotion in this melody. The baton just can express the enormous feelings contained in the tune. So I just get rid of it."
A young Chinese tenor delivered a perfect version of the song "I live upstream Yangtze River". The song is adapted from a famous Chinese poem, telling a beautiful love story.
This is the 13th Chinese New Year Concert in Vienna. The concert usually opens in the second or third week of January, in order to raise excitement for the upcoming Spring Festival joy.
