Tibet is a mysterious land to both people in other parts of China and abroad. A new TV drama will give those curious about the plateau region an in-depth look at its history and its people. The epic production blends historical facts with legendary stories to reveal how the land has changed prior to its peaceful liberation by the Chinese People's Liberation Army in 1951.

Based on real history, the enchanting TV drama "The Untold Story of Tibet" unwraps the events that happened in Tibet from the 1930s to '50s. With the story spanning nearly 30 years, the series weaves Tibet's customs, politics and everyday life into the plotline.

Liu Depin, Director of "The Untold Story of Tibet", said, "Making a TV series featuring a theme around Tibet is good for the public, to know about Tibet, to know the real history of Tibet."

The TV drama features many experienced role-players. Guo Xiaodong, beloved by audiences as the lead in another TV series, "New Age of Marriage", stars as the hero on "The Untold of Tibet". Meanwhile, Shen Aojun, from the hit TV series "Lurk", plays the female lead.

Guo Xiaodong, Lead Actor of "The Untold Story of Tibet", said, "Before shooting, I asked some locals to bring me to the temples, to learn from the lamas and observe their lives, see what kind of state they are in their lives."

Shen Aojun, Lead Actress of "The Untold Story of Tibet", said, "This woman is very intelligent, very brave and very persistent. She shoulders the responsibility of her family and her love. This role was very attractive to me."

All the scenes in the show were shot in Tibet, giving viewers a chance to see its famed snowy plateaus, Potala Palace, and Norbulingka Park. "The Untold Story of Tibet" premiered Wednesday on CCTV 8, with four episodes a day.
