China Mobile establishes 5G drone system, allowing for remote control

(ECNS) -- China Mobile has established a 5G-connected drone system, allowing for remote control beyond sight, the company announced Tuesday.

The core technology of the system uses 5G cellular networks to replace traditional communication links such as microwave or Wi-Fi. This upgrade enables remote control and real-time transmission of massive data on a much larger scale.

Previously, traditional drones typically rely on private, self-built communication links, which could not support large-scale, beyond-line-of-sight operations, significantly hindering the further development of the drone industry.
