(ECNS) -- A quadruped robot with high-speed movement and flexible climbing capabilities has been deployed at Jiande Qiandaohu Airport in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province, for perimeter inspection duties, marking the first trial application in the local civil aviation sector.
The new "employee" at the airport is the "Jueying Lite3," a quadruped robot developed by China’s AI company DeepRobotics. It can climb slopes of up to 40° and move at speeds of up to 5 meters per second.
Equipped with visible light cameras and scanning radar, the robot can accurately sense changes in the environment, such as the approach of suspicious individuals or minor damage to perimeter facilities.
Its loudspeaker system enables real-time announcements and bird control tasks, contributing to airport safety.
Zhang Hao, a ground crew member of Jiande Qiandaohu Airport, said that using the quadruped robot can reduce the time required for manual patrols. He thinks the robot’s functions, including alarms, flashing lights, bird control, and perimeter patrol, could greatly benefit the airport.
During patrols, the robot can transmit data in real-time to the airport's backend platform, allowing staff to quickly access information and make response.
