(ECNS) -- Located in Lijiang City, southwest China’s Yunnan Province, the Lijiang Station of the China Remote Sensing Satellite Ground Station (RSGS) has received data from satellites in the resource, environment, and disaster reduction series.
Since deploying its first antenna system, the station has completed 6,033 data reception maneuvers. As of this Spring Festival, it has achieved a 99.7 percent success rate in data reception.
Equipped with four satellite antenna receiving systems, the station supports near-real-time data transmission, with key technical indicators reaching a world-leading level.
Tang Mengyue, director of the Lijiang Station, stated that since its launch in late September 2024, the facility has featured fully automated, high-efficiency satellite data reception, covering southwest China and surrounding regions.
Tang emphasized the crucial role of real-time satellite data reception and transmission. She explained that when a satellite passes over the ground station, its data is received and immediately transmitted to the headquarters of China’s remote sensing satellite ground station in Beijing. This ensures timely distribution to relevant research and application institutions.
For example, in the event of a forest fire, earthquake, or oil spill, authorities can quickly and accurately assess the situation using real-time disaster monitoring satellite data, enabling faster decision-making and reducing disaster impact.
Wu Yewei, deputy director of RSGS, noted that since the establishment of Chian’s first satellite ground station in Miyun, Beijing, in 1986, RSGS has grown over nearly 40 years into one of the world’s leading facilities in scale and technical capability.
Wu revealed that the Lijiang Station is planning a second-phase expansion, which will include additional receiving antennas and related equipment to further enhance its capacity and meet the increasing data reception demands of future satellites.
