China willing to engage in dialogue, manage differences with the U.S.: MOC

(ECNS) -- China is willing to engage in active dialogue with the U.S. based on mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, expand cooperation, manage differences, and promote stable and far-reaching bilateral economic and trade relations, Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce (MOC) Wang Shouwen said Friday.

Wang made the remarks at a briefing in response to Donald Trump's previous speech of planning to impose tariff upward of 60 percent on all Chinese imports.

He pointed out that Chinese economy has shown very strong resilience, with great potential and vigor, and is capable of coping with external shocks.

History has shown that a country imposing tariffs on China can't solve its trade deficit problem, but will put up its prices of imports, he said.

"If China and the U.S. can maintain a stable, healthy and sustainable development in their economic and trade relations, it will be beneficial to peoples of both countries and the world,” said Wang.

What's more, China will also firmly safeguard its own sovereignty, security and development interests, he added.
