China to connect northernmost wind power hub to grid by October

(ECNS) -- China is expected to connect its northernmost 100-megawatt power project to the State grid in October.

Located in Huma County of the Greater Khingan Range, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, the wind power project has completed construction of 13 out 20 wind turbines.

Huma County is located on the southwestern bank of the upper reaches of the Heilongjiang River, on the eastern slopes of the Greater Khingan Range. Facing Shimanovsk City in Russia's Amur Oblast across the river, it has the longest border with Russia among all counties in Heilongjiang Province.

The project has a total investment of 760 million yuan($110 million). It plans to build 20 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 5 megawatts, along with the construction of a 220-kilovolt booster station.

Upon completion, the project is expected to generate an annual output of 230 million kilowatt-hours, nearly four times the total annual electricity consumption of over 30,000 households in Huma County. This initiative will save approximately 77,000metric tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 188,000 metric tons.
