(ECNS) -- Galaxy Space, a private Chinese commercial aerospace company conducted test verification of a low-orbit satellite internet broadband communication network in Thailand on Tuesday in collaboration with Thailand's Mahankorn University of Technology. This marks the first overseas application of China's low-orbit broadband satellite internet, according to the company.
Galaxy Space has built a ground test station at Mahankorn University of Technology, including satellite communication terminals test the low-orbit satellite internet broadband communication network, while continuously observing the communication capabilities of satellite signals in the millimeter-wave frequency band under local meteorological conditions.
Liu Chang, GalaxySpace's co-founder and vice president, stated that this collaboration marks the first step in the overseas application of China's low-orbit broadband satellite internet technology. It provides local enterprises and universities with a platform to research low-orbit satellite communication systems, helping to enhance Thailand's technological capabilities and application scenarios.
He said this initiative will drive upstream and downstream industries such as satellite manufacturing, network construction and system operation in Thailand, thereby supporting the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative through advanced technology.
Suphongsa Khetkeeree, director of the Satellite Research Laboratory at Mahankorn University of Technology, said, “Galaxy Space has provided advanced satellite internet technology. Through our collaboration, we have established a test system and conducted various technical experiments.”
He noted that it also provided strong technical support for Thailand's exploration of satellite internet applications. More importantly, it will further enhance Thailand's capacity building in aerospace technology and applications.
