(ECNS) -- China's first all-rail express international freight train carrying LED monitors and NEV cars departed from Chengdu in southwest China's Sichuan Province to Port Klang in Malaysia via China-Laos Railway and passing through Thailand on Tuesday.
The maiden trip will take five days to Thailand and eight days to Malaysia, shortening transportation time 50 percent compared to traditional sea routes.
The China-Laos-Thailand-Malaysia express freight rail helps facilitate direct transport of goods to southeast Asia, and reduce transportation costs, said Wang Weikun, deputy general manager of Chengdu International Railway Service Co., LTD.
The freight train will further promote completion of the central corridor of the trans-Asian railway network and construction of a cross-border trade system between China and Southeast Asian countries.
Chengdu's international train services have reached 112 cities with four newly added stops in Mendeleyevsk in Russia and Port Klang in Malaysia this year, establishing an international land-sea freight distributions system.
These all-rail express routes will meet the increased cross-border logistics and international transit demands between China's western region and ASEAN countries.
