(ECNS) -- Changguang, China's first commercial remote sensing satellite company, successfully conducted the test of China's first ultra-high-speed laser image transmission between satellites with bandwidth up to 100 Gbps on Thursday.
The breakthrough was achieved through two independently developed "Jilin-1" 02A 01 and 02 satellites, China's first domestic remote-sensing satellite constellation for commercial purposes.
Xing Sirui, a technician at the company, said last year, Changguang carried out a successful space-to-ground high-speed laser communications test using the Jilin-1 MF01A04 remote sensing satellite and a vehicle-mounted laser communication ground station, with the communication bandwidth reaching 10Gbps.
To further enhance the timeless of data transmissions, the company has set up a research team to develop optical terminals for laser data transmissions supporting various communication modes, including satellites in obits and satellite-ground communication with maximum bandwidths of 10 Gbps and 100 Gbps, respectively.
The success of inter-satellite laser communication is of great significance for the rapid transmission of remote sensing data and real-time monitoring in orbit, Xing added.
