China releases first batch of 789 important terrestrial wildlife habitats?

(ECNS)-- China has unveiled the first batch of 789 crucial terrestrial wildlife habitats, safeguarding a remarkable 82.36 percent of the nation's protected species, according to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration.

The habitats are classified into six categories, encompassing zones vital for the survival and reproduction of endangered species, along with areas where wildlife populations are concentrated.

Spanning 31 provinces, the list covers habitats, breeding grounds, and migratory areas for 565 nationally protected wildlife species of the first and second classes, including 127 mammal species, 339 bird species, 62 amphibians and reptiles, and 37 insect species.

In recent years, China has significantly bolstered the protection of wildlife habitats through the establishment of national parks, nature reserves, and diverse park types.

This proactive approach has been instrumental in ensuring the safety of wildlife habitats and has made substantial contributions to the rescue of critically endangered species and the overall development of wildlife populations.
