(ECNS) -- A direct air route between Fuzhou in Fujian Province and Taiwan resumed on Monday after a three-year suspension caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Flight MF883 took off from Fuzhou Changle International Airport for Taipei Songshan Airport at 6 p.m. on Monday.
A total of 157 passengers took the flight.
Six round-trip flights will be carried out every week between the two airports, with one round-trip flight every day except Friday. The flight takes off from Fuzhou Changle International Airport at 6:15 p.m. and arrives at Taipei Songshan Airport at 7:45 p.m. and then returns from Taipei at 8:45 p.m. and lands in Fuzhou at 10:10 p.m.
“It only takes one and a half hour from Fuzhou Changle International Airport to Taipei Songshan Airport, and it’s very convenient,” said Lai Seh-jen, chairperson of Taiwan Tourism Interchange Association.
“I hope that I can be an air messenger for cultural exchanges across the Taiwan Strait and make contributions to friendly exchanges between people on both sides of the Strait," said the cabin manager of the flight.
According to Huang Zhenyang, deputy general manager of Xiamen Airlines Fuzhou branch, the direct air route between Fuzhou and Kaohsiung will resume on June 2.
