(ECNS) -- CRRC Corporation launched a smart electric multiple unit (EMU) technology platform at the InnoTrans Berlin 2022, an international leading trade fair for transport technology in Germany, on Thursday.
Based on the smart EMU technology, China has successfully developed a series of EMU vehicles, for example, the EMU with a designed speed of 350km/h, intercity EMU, and intelligent alpine EMU, with 40 EMUs running on main railways in the country.
The EMU technology features smart driving. For example, smart EMUs for Beijing-Zhangjiakou Intercity Railway can conduct a series of operations including automatic departure from stations, automatic running and stopping, which reduces drivers’ work by 40 percent and improves the operating efficiency.
The EMU trains have an automatic speed control precision within 2km/h and a stopping precision within 0.5m.
Light, temperature and even the pressure wave can be adjusted in the smart EMUs according to the external environment when a train passes through a tunnel. The interactive system of passenger information, intelligent ordering, online payment and 5G network are available, too.
The smart EMU technology platform combines malfunction prediction and health management system relying on cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence and 5G communication.
In addition, the smart EMUs are environmentally friendly. The comprehensive energy consumption of smart EMUs is reduced by about 8 percent. And the electricity saved by a train every year can meet the demands of 730 households a year.
At the same time, the recovery rate of the built-in materials of EMUs reaches 75 percent and the water-saving rate exceeds 10 percent, which can save 260 liters of water every day.
China’s interactive multimedia system of smart EMUs was also showcased at the fair.
