Death toll of 6.8-magnitude earthquake in SW China's Sichuan rises to 93

(ECNS) -- The death toll from the 6.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Luding County in southwest China's Sichuan Province last Monday has risen to 93, local authorities for earthquake rescue and relief said Monday. 

Among the dead, 55 were killed in the Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, and the other 38 were in Ya'an.

Another 25 people are still missing. 

Rescue workers will continue to search for the missing people, while the major work in the quake-hit area will shift from rescue to resettlement and reconstruction, according to local authorities.

Transportation, electricity, and communications have been recovered in most parts of Luding, local authorities said.
