(ECNS) - Alibaba will continue its open recruitment and increase training programs instead of laying off employees this year, said Zhang Yong, CEO of the e-commerce giant.
At an internal management meeting, Zhang also promised to use more platforms to help create further job opportunities in China.
Zhang said, "we will make full efforts to drive consumption and bring more orders for manufacturing and service industries.”
“When the economic situation is not good, the greatest value of a platform is to boost employment."
The latest financial report showed Alibaba and its affiliate Ant Financial have more than 100,000 employees, a first for the e-commerce giant.
