(ECNS) -- Beijing's famous tourist sites, the Great Wall at the Badaling section and the Thirteen Tombs of the Ming Dynasty, have set limits on visitor numbers for the upcoming eight-day Golden Week holiday, which begins on Sunday, the Beijing Youth Daily reported.

The coincidence of National Day and the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival makes it China's biggest week for tourism. Badaling Great Wall will open to the public at 6 a.m. from Oct 1 to Oct 8, 30 minutes earlier than normal, and extend its ticketing time appropriately, said the tourist site office.

In addition, measures including tourist distribution and traffic dispersion will be taken at the 15 passes and eight exits of the great wall to aid visitor flow. The 15 public lavatories and three portable toilets will all be in service.

Eleven parking lots, which can contain about 6,200 cars, will be opened to the public. Tourists can also take buses to Badaling.

The Ming Dynasty tombs, another attraction in Beijing's Changping district, will also increase its number of employees to channel visitors during the holiday period. In addition, opening and closing times might be adjusted according to visitor numbers.

Eleven parks in the capital, and the Museum of Chinese Gardens and Landscape Architecture, will launch approximately 100 cultural and leisure activities during the holidays. About 3.8 million visitors are expected and the peak will be from Oct 3 to 5.

The Summer Palace, the Temple of Heaven, Zhongshan Park and Beihai Park could be the hottest destinations for group tourists on Oct 1 to 3, according to the Beijing Municipal Administration Center, which suggested that citizens visit alternative options such as the Fragrant Hills, the Botanical Gardens and Taoranting Park for a more pleasant experience.

The city's 11 parks will open 74 more temporary windows to provide ticket services, the report said.
