(ECNS) -- More people have trips planned for the upcoming seven-day "National Day" holiday in October, China Tourism Academy said.

According to the academy's prediction, 79.2 percent of people are prepared to go on a trip during the fourth quarter of this year, with 55.5 percent planning it to coincide with the seven days of National Day holidays from October 1 to 7, also called "Golden Week."

The concentration of trip plans will undoubtedly promote prosperity in the tourism market. The academy predicated the domestic market would see 589 million visitors in this year's "National Day" holiday, up 12 percent compared with the same period last year.

Revenue from the travel market could hit 478.1 billion yuan ($71 billion), increasing 13.5 percent year-on-year. Besides, the average spending per person during the holidays may rise to more than 800 yuan.

It predicted that the Palace Museum in Beijing, West Lake in Hangzhou, Shanghai Disneyland, and tourist cities such as Sanya, Jiuzaigou and Lijiang will top the list of tourist destinations.

Visitors to the Yangtze River Delta, especially Hangzhou and Shanghai, are expected to hit a new high this year.

Wang Yanyong, director of the Tourism Development and Planning Research Center at Beijing Jiaotong University, said the concentration of trips may cause some problems such as transport congestion and higher fees at scenic spots.

China's tourism industry will see consistent growth, but it cannot increase too quickly because of a prevalent poor economic foundation, Wang said, adding that Chinese will spend more on vacations and trips, but that most are after a bit of relaxation.

"People have only one Golden Week each year. They should have more vacation, and the government should improve the Golden Week travel market and during minor holidays," he said.
