(ECNS) -- The Ministry of Transportation is planning to ban cars offering ride-hailing services from roaming round airports and railway stations to pick up passengers, according to a draft regulation posted on the ministry's website.
The rule says ride-hailing cars, unlike traditional taxis, should not attract customers by waiting at airports, railway stations and other areas based on vehicle dispatch or queue systems.
It also suggested a minimum 10-minute wait when either driver or passenger is late.
Cars engaged in ride-hailing services should be better equipped than local taxis, providing Wi-Fi, phone chargers and tissues, and ensure a satisfaction rate of at least 80 percent, according to the regulation.
After two years of deliberation, China has finally allowed private cars to enter the car-hailing market, but only if they meet a slew of requirements on both car and driver.
The opinion-soliciting period will last till Aug. 31.
