(ECNS) -- China United Airlines will be forced to pay back 443,210 yuan ($66,400) in passenger seat-selection fees, and will be fined a further 443,210 yuan, said Beijing's development and reform commission.
From March 29 to December 23, 2015, China United Airlines charged 26,853 passengers on 71 flights a seat-selection fee, which violated regulations as well as the law, the Beijing Youth Daily reported on Thursday, citing an administrative penalty decision publicized by the commission.
The commission had repeatedly ordered the airline to return the money to consumers, but the company did nothing, the paper said.
