(ECNS) -- Chaoyang District in Beijing will employ five cutting-edge technologies to reduce air pollution caused by construction sites as part of its ambitious "Blue Sky Act," the Beijing News reported.
As a demonstration, two cannon-like machines were used to spray water over rising dust from a building site in the district's Dongba area on Tuesday.
A staff member said the multi-functional mist-generation system can spray water at a range of 120 meters and reduce dust by up to 70 percent.
Chaoyang will introduce other hi-tech devices to prevent dust from being generated, spreading and polluting the air.
According to the "Blue Sky Act," Chaoyang will install video systems in all construction sites of more than 5,000 square meters to monitor dust emissions.
The dust-control technologies will be piloted at two construction sites before being rolled out on all sites in the district.
The district has also tightened management of the transportation of construction waste.
