(ECNS) -- A 29-year old nurse stood trial at a court in Shanghai over suspected intentional homicide, Beijing Times reports.
On April 1, 2015, the nurse, alias Wang Lin, put 30-50 sleeping pills she had grounded into powder in her fiancé's drinking water, according to prosecutors. He fell to sleep soon after. Wang then injected insulin into her fiancé's abdomen, leading to his death as a result of central nervous system and respiratory failure, the newspaper reported.
Wang, a nurse at the Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital, took the medicine and tools from the hospital.
In 2011, Wang fell in love with her fiancé Li Ming (not his real name), and they set the wedding for January 2015, with endorsement from parents of both sides.
However, as they began to prepare for their big day the couple had quarrels over a variety of issues, ranging from the decoration of their future apartment to the selection of a car.
Li's mother failed to honor the promise to give them her three-bedroom, two-living-room apartment after the decoration was finished, she said. "I felt I was fooled by Li Ming," she was quoted as saying by the paper.
According to information, Wang had intended to commit suicide by taking potassium cyanide she had bought online after she poisoned Wang, only to find it was fake and useless.
