(ECNS) -- Private car services of popular taxi-hailing apps Didi-Kuaidi and Uber have been accused of violating laws and regulations concerning passenger transport, as well as evading taxes, spamming and breaching advertising rules, Beijing authorities have said.
The city's transport body, together with seven other government departments, on Thursday had a meeting with executives of Didi-Kuaidi and Uber regarding the alleged violations.
These ride-hailing services have also made Beijing's traffic congestion worse, it was added.
Earlier in June, the Beijing transport authority grilled executives of "Didi Zhuanche" and reiterated that unlicensed taxis are illegal.
The Didi Zhuanche service or private car service, which allows private car owners to accept fares for driving passengers, stands in violation of existing laws and regulations.
Each company has been ordered to adjust its operations, to stop spamming and adhere to the law.
Authorities say developing public transport is the fundamental solution to Beijing's transport problems, with research into reforms of the taxi industry underway.
Taxis occupy approximately ten times more road resources than the average vehicle, so they can only serve as a supplementary transport solution, while there needs to be overall control over operations, it was added.
"Didi Express" and "Didi Zhuanche" services also pose great road safety risks due to the absence of effective supervision.
So far this year, 1,211 "Didi Zhuanche" and 170 Uber vehicles have been punished for illegal operations, according to official data.
