(ECNS) -- Geologists have discovered a large gold reserve in central China's Hunan Province, Hunan Daily reported on Saturday.

The Hunan Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources discovered a 200-ton gold reserve at a depth of 850 meters at a local mine.

According to the bureau, its geologists undertook 251 exploration projects and discovered 13 new ore fields last year, including 31.39 million tons of coal, 37.92 million tons of iron ore, 66 million tons of manganese ore, and 120,000 tons of gold.

In addition, the bureau has also undertaken offshore risk exploration projects in Indonesia, Zambia, Burma, and Cambodia, which included nine gold veins, and 4.31 tons of gold reserves found in the latter.

The achievement of such results have added new momentum to economic and social development, the report stated.
