Border residents in Yunnan hoist national flags after Myanmar bombing incident

(ECNS) -- Chinese residents living along the southwestern border with Myanmar have placed national flags atop their houses, Chuncheng Evening News, a Yunnan newspaper, reports.

This move came after a bomb dropped by a Myanmar warplane hit a sugarcane field in Lincang city last Friday, killing four workers and injuring eight others.

Military reinforcements have been sent to the Myanmar border to protect local residents, as well as ensure regional stability.

The People's Liberation Army Air Force dispatched several fighter jets on Friday to "track, monitor, warn and chase away" military planes from Myanmar flying close to the Chinese border, according to Air Force spokesman Shen Jinke.
