Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei to build intercity rail lines

(ECNS) -- A plan to build an intercity railway network linking Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei province has been submitted to the National Development and Reform Commission, China's top economic planner, for approval.

With a top speed of 160 km/h, the proposed rail line would cover 70 kilometers, of which 20 kilometers will be within Hebei Province, according to the initial plan, the Mirror reported on Wednesday.

The proposal also states that the distance between two stations would be around six or seven kilometers, and that passengers will be able to reach Beijing within one hour.

Two intermediate stations would be built in the Hebei city of Sanhe and Yanjiao, a town under its administration.

Should this scheme be adopted, more than 300,000 people who commute between Beijing and Yanjiao would benefit, while it would be the first time that Hebei province was included in the Beijing rail transit network.

The Chinese government has been promoting the integration of the three neighboring regions to optimize industrial layout and improve the allocation of resources.
