Time indoors main reason for being single

(ECNS) -- The main reasons for being single are a having small circle of friends and spending too much time alone, according to the 2014 Chinese Marital Status Report released by a prominent local dating website. 

About 63 percent of "leftover" men or women spent more than six hours at home alone on holidays, with 31.7 per cent exceeding 10 hours alone, according to the findings. 

Surfing the Internet, socializing with friends and staying at home have become the top three activities for people who spend most of their time indoors. 

Amongst the personal qualities cited, men care more about good looks, health, and relationship experience; whereas women think economic status, health and careers are important. 

For both men and women who were interviewed, a stable income and a degree of savings were the main requirements for marriage, with 71.8 percent of women saying that house ownership was the main requisite for marriage, while 17.8 percent think that car ownership is also important when getting married, nine per cent more than in 2012. 

Although China has proposed a two-child policy, only 40 percent of women plan to have a second kid, eleven percent more than men, according to the data.
