Hengqin opens 24-hour clearance port connecting Macao

(ECNS) -- Hengqin Port has started 24-hour customs clearance in southern China's Guangdong province, right between Zhuhai and Macao, People's Daily reported.

The port covers an area of 240,000 square meters, and has 44 lanes capable of servicing 80,000 to 100,000 people each day. In addition, trucks are no longer allowed to enter or exit the area.

Two other ports linking the region are also making new arrangements for operation.

Gongbei Port has extended its hours, opening 60 minutes earlier and closing an hour later, running from 6 am to 1 am.

The Cross-border Port, previously only open to people working in the industrial zone, is now accessible from midnight to 7 am for students, Macao residents and those who walk to work in the city. Cars and taxis are not allowed to traverse the port any longer.
