CSR secures $270 mln order from Argentina

(ECNS) -- China CSR Corp. Limited, one of the the country's top train makers, has secured a new overseas order of 1.7 billion yuan ($270 million) to provide locomotives and trucks for the Belgrano railway renovation project in Argentina. 

The plan is part of a project reconstructing Argentina's aging railway network. China Machinery Engineering Corporation was awarded a general contract, with around 100 locomotives and 3,500 trucks in total needed. 

CSR has become the main provider in Argentina's railway system since first entering the market in 2006. It was awarded two orders in 2013 to provide 709 inter-city trains to Argentina. The company has enjoyed a sound reputation since successfully delivering the rolling stock in 2014.
