Urumqi to ban full-face veils in public spaces

(ECNS) -- Full-face veils have been banned in public areas across Urumqi, Northwest China's Uygur autonomous region, according to a newly released regulation. 

The new ruling was approved at the 21st Session of the Fifteenth Standing Committee of Urumqi People's Congress, the local legislative body, on Wednesday.

The ban will come into force after receiving the nod from the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
