(ECNS) -- Beijing police has banned people wearing Halloween costumes or scary make-up from taking the subway ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings, the Beijing News reported. [Special coverage]
With parties and activities to be held on Friday evening, or Halloween, Beijing police said people wearing costumes etc may cause panic among subway crowds.
Police warned passengers not to linger in subway stations during rush hour, and asked people to gather for celebrations in proper places.
Subway staff will dissuade dressed-up passengers from entering subways, with the disobedient to be dealt with by the police.
Passengers who disturb public order will be arrested, the report said, adding that transgressors would be dealt with seriously in accordance with law, especially in the case of a stampede.
China's police chief on Monday urged tight security checks to prevent terrorist attacks during the APEC meetings, which will be held from November 5 to 11.
