Chinese hybrid rice yield hits new record  

袁隆平領銜攻關“超級稻”畝產過千公斤 創造紀錄

(ECNS) -- A team led by Yuan Longping, known in China as "the father of hybrid rice", hit a record for hybrid rice production with an average yield of 1,026.7 kilograms per mu (one mu is 0.0667 hectare), the Agricultural Ministry said.

Tang Ke, a ministry official, released the news on Friday after it organized experts to measure rice yields across fields in Central China's Hunan province.
