(ECNS) -- Beijing on Tuesday ruled out a suspected Ebola scare involving a patient placed under hospital observation on Monday after returning from Liberia feeling ill, according to Beijing News.

The middle-aged man suffered from dizziness, vomiting and fever, which are all symptoms of the virus. He was put under observation at Beijing Ditan Hospital after seeking medical treatment on Monday morning.

Beijing Ditan Hospital has been designated as one of the hospitals set to receive suspected Ebola patients.

According to China's health regulations, patients suffering fevers over 37.3 degrees Celsius and who are likely to be infected by epidemic diseases must be placed into hospital observation and undergo tests.

Beijing's health authority has strengthened monitoring of persons returning from epidemic areas in West Africa.

According to the latest WHO update on August 20, there have been 2,615 cases and 1,427 deaths reported in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria.
