(ECNS) -- Many third-party businesses are selling counterfeit products via China's main e-commerce platforms, according to Beijing Youth Daily.

A company named Xiangpengheng was recently exposed for providing counterfeit luxury goods, claimed to be sourced from famous overseas brands, to Chinese consumers through online shopping channels such as jd.com, yhd.com and jumei.com.

An unnamed insider said that third-party sellers like Xiangpengheng are common in Chinese e-commerce, and that platforms often turned a blind eye to cheap counterfeit products for the sake of increased business.

China's e-commerce revenue in 2013 surpassed 10 trillion yuan ($1.63 trillion), including 1.85 trillion yuan from online retailing, according to official data. In the mean time, sales of fake goods have become increasingly rampant.

An earlier survey revealed that among 50,000 netizens, 84 percent said they had bought fake goods online.

Chinese authorities have vowed to crack down on counterfeit goods sold online during the second half of this year, in response to major online retailers having been found to be selling fake products, said Shen Danyang, spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce.
