Panda gives birth to triplets, all doing well

Chengdu (ECNS) -- The 12-year-old female giant panda Ju Xiao gave birth to triplets at Chimelong Safari Park in South China's Guangdong province on July 29, and both mother and cubs are in good condition.

Ju Xiao delivered the first cub at 1:10 am on July 29, the second at 3:47 am, and the third was successfully delivered at 4:34 am.

The three panda cubs, weighing 90.5g, 83g and 124.4g, were put in incubators after birth.

Now two weeks old, the three cubs are doing well, and they have been taking turns spending time with their mother.

Ju Xiao conceived through artificial insemination in March.

It gave birth to twins in 2010 at the Chengdu panda research center and went to Chimelong Safari Park in 2012, following a scientific cooperation between the zoo and the center.

It is the second time that a panda gave birth to cubs at the zoo.
