(ECNS) – Walmart has become yet another cause of scandal in China, after an employee exposed one of its stores selling expired delicatessen meat, among other food safety violations.

A man who said he worked at the Honghu branch of Walmart in Shenzhen shot a video exposing how food was prepared at the store, and said the deli department had been taking measures to "control costs" since last year.

The video shows employees in the kitchen adding fresh oil to used oil for frying. The whistleblower said a bucket of oil was used at least half a month before being completely eliminated, but employees wrote "replaced" on the record sheet every day.

The store also used rice with worms in it to make fast food and sold it to consumers, the source added.

In late July, Shanghai Husi Food, a meat supplier for McDonald's and KFC, was found supplying stale meat to the fast food chains. The scandal has shaken Chinese consumer confidence in foreign fast food companies.
