(ECNS) – People taking Beijing's subway line 4 may find that their stop has been named after their favorite soccer team.

According to the Beijing MTR Corporation, the line's 35 stops have been temporarily renamed after the 32 teams of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, with the remaining three renamed "Fair Competition," "Sportsmanship" and "Mr. Football."

New team signs have been put up above the stops' original name signs. For example, Xidan station is now "Spain" and Renmin University station is "Brazil."

Fans who have noticed the signs embraced the new additions, saying they can now travel the world for two yuan (30 cents).

Beijing MTR also said that it will adjust the signs to include each team's record.

Updated: Beijing subway cuts World Cup promotion plan

A plan to adorn each station on Beijing's subway Line 4 with the name of one of the 32 soccer teams playing in the World Cup has been dropped, much to the disappointment of frequent travelers.

A statement from Beijing MTR Corp, which operates the line said the plan was cancelled to avoid confusion among passengers who are not familiar with the line, which has 35 stops. >>>
