Liaoning launches real-name system for matches buying

(ECNS) -- People in Northeast China's Liaoning province will have to register with ID cards when buying matches, liquefied gas and other materials that can be used to make explosives, Shenyang Evening News said on Thursday.

The move has come as part of a one-year anti-terror campaign initiated by the provincial public security department of Liaoning.

The real-name system will be applied to the purchase of products such as gasoline, matches, fireworks, and dangerous goods like knives and highly toxic chemicals.

Besides tightening control over circulation of dangerous goods, other measures such as enhancing background checks for people who leave or enter the province, and heightened security in crowded areas will be introduced as part of the anti-terror campaign, which will start in June.
