Beijing sub-district shocks with wage disclosure

(ECNS) -- A sub-district office of Beijing has disclosed its labor expenses for the year, with the average gross wage for each civil servant reaching a surprising 210,000 yuan ($33,890), the Beijing News reported.

That's a steep rise from the city's average monthly salary in 2012, which was 5,223 yuan ($842), according to official statistics.

All sub-district offices and civil service departments under the Shijingshan district have opened their budgets for 2014, including labor expenses and numbers of employees.

The high labor costs of other sub-district offices in the city have also been noticed. The Baobashan Sub-district Office announced a 20.78 million yuan budget for its 97 employees. That's an average of 210,000 yuan for each.

The labor budget for the Jinding Street Sub-district Office, which has 109 employees, has also exceeded 20 million yuan.

The sanitation center of Xicheng District said it plans to use 20.14 billion yuan to buy cleaning trucks, while the district's environmental bureau will allocate 115 million yuan to combat smog.

Beijing's average monthly salary for employees was 5,223 yuan in 2012, according to statistics released by local human resources and social insurance bureau.
