(ECNS) – A disabled 25-year-old man on a long-distance trip by bicycle was robbed of his bike and crutches in Wuhan, according to People.com.cn.

Zhang Youzhi planned to cycle from his hometown in Henan province to Hainan, the southernmost province of China, with a friend. Wuhan was their first stop.

They found their bikes missing on the morning of March 7 at a hotel near Wuhan University.

According to Zhang, a pair of crutches and a part of his prosthetic joint were tied to his bike. "I didn't think anyone would have the heart to steal it after seeing the crutches," he said.

Zhang's bike is a Cronus Rover 320 and his friend's a Triace A318, worth about 5,000 yuan ($814) in total, he added.

The loss interrupted their traveling schedule, Zhang said, but they would finish the journey even if they had to walk or hitchhike.
