The woman, dubbed as "Shanghai Lady" online, in a black and white photo has a sweet smile and big eyes. Wearing no makeup or jewelry, she still outshines those in glossy magazines.

Liu Du, who posted the photo, said the woman is her deceased grandmother and her beauty survives the passage of time.

The photo got nearly 600,000 visits by netizens and was forwarded more than 2,200 times.

Some netizens praised her natural beauty without the benefit of PhotoShop or cosmetic surgery, while others expressed nostalgia about black and white photos.
