(ECNS) – A survey on fatigue showed that middle-aged citizens who earn over 100,000 yuan (16,500 dollars) a year felt the worst, Nanfang Daily reported.

The survey, conducted by Nanfang Daily and Qingyuan News Net in Qingyuan city, Guangdong province, received 3,542 responses from netizens.

Around 70 percent said they felt tired from life, and nearly 40 percent chose "very tired" to describe their feelings. Less than 10 percent said their life was "quite easy".

In the survey, 78 percent of civil servants felt tired, making the position most exhausting. Following were business class and working class, 60 percent to 75 percent of whom felt tired. By contrast, over half of students and teachers said their life was "not tiring" or "easy".

The survey unexpectedly found most of those who earn over 100,000 yuan per year felt tired. Among the 500 respondents who earn more than 100,000 yuan a year, over 80 percent said they felt tired, and about 60 percent said "very tired".

But among those who earned 10,000 to 30,000 per year, only 20 percent said their life was "very tiring" and 50 percent chose "not tired" or "quite easy".

Experts said the well-paid group generally felt tired in heart and brain, which made it harder for them to recover, compared with physical exhaustion.

And 90 percent of those 30 to 50 years old felt tired, and 60 percent said "very tired".

Those in their 20s also felt tired, with 80 percent saying they were "tired" and 50 percent saying "very tired".

Experts said the middle-aged group, as the backbone of their families and society, bore too much stress, which made them feel worse. And those in their 20s also suffer the pressure of job hunting, marriage, houses and cars.
