(ECNS) -- China's first batch of five anti-smog locomotives, produced by CNR Dalian Locomotive & Rolling Stock Company Ltd, was delivered to the China Railway Corp on Wednesday, Beijing Times said on Thursday.

In hazy weather, heavy metal particles in the smog may adhere to the high-voltage machine on top of locomotives and disturb the machine's insulation, which can block trains from changing directions.

Workers have to clean the top with detergent after every three to four kilometers in heavy smog.

Equipped with anti-smog devices, the upgraded HXD3C electronic locomotives can help trains change directions automatically even amid smoggy weather.

The manufacturer in Dalian, Liaoning province, received an order from China Railway to make 50 anti-smog trains in the second half of 2013.
