Cameron gets wish to eat hot pot in Chengdu

(ECNS) -- Visiting British Prime Minister David Cameron tried the famous Chinese "hot pot" at a restaurant in Chengdu, Sichuan province on Wednesday, according to the Chengdu Evening News.

The prime minister and his entourage arrived at the restaurant at the Century City New International Convention & Exhibition Center at around 6 p.m.

They ordered the "two-flavored" hot pot, and selected mostly vegetarian dishes.

"It seems that coriander-flavored meatballs and glutinous rice cakes were the favorite dishes for Cameron," said Cao Jing, a waitress who served him.

"The prime minister was not afraid of spicy food," Cao added. "He said 'very good' many times."

He also said "Thank you" in Chinese to the waitresses who served him, Cao said.

The meal cost the prime minister 877 yuan (14.9 US dollars).

"The pot that Cameron used might become a treasure of our restaurant," Cao said.

"We're thinking about naming the room where Cameron had the dinner as the 'Cameron Room,'" a man in charge of the restuarant said.
