Fake pic of officials visiting centenarian draws fire

Hefei (ECNS) – A photoshopped picture showing officials visiting an elderly woman has stirred anger among netizens.

Posted on a municipal civil affairs bureau's website, the picture shows Wang Jun, vice mayor of Ningguo, Anhui province, and three other officials visiting a female centenarian. However, the officials have been magnified and their feet are off the ground. The woman's position in the photo also isn't correct.

No explanation has been made yet. On Tuesday night, the operator on duty at the bureau said he didn't know about the issue. No one at the Civil Affairs Bureau has answered calls from reporters.

Netizens have commented that the picture exposes the hypocritical working style of officials.

Earlier reports said the Ningguo Civil Affairs Bureau had stopped netizens from making voluntary donations to several poverty-stricken locals.
