莫斯科市長反對建“唐人街” 拒絕單一民族聚居區

(ECNS) -- Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said in an interview with Russian media that he objected to building a Chinatown in the city, according to rusnews.cn.

"Considering crime rates and citizens' self-perception, the consequences of establishing such a one-ethnic community would be serious," he said.

Public utilities and security situation in each district of the city are almost the same as those in downtown, according to Sobyanin.

"It's a unique advantage, and Moscow should keep it."

Sobyanin said almost no metropolis around the world, New York and Geneva included, could equal Moscow in safety.

Russia's President Vladimir Putin once said Russia didn't allow single-ethnic communities in his country, because they could isolate themselves from Russia's unified legal system and culture.
