(ECNS) -- A paralyzed man in Shaanxi province had to be carried into a bank by emergency medical staff so that he could change the password for his bankcard, the Xi'an-based Huashang Newspaper reported Sunday.

Xu Wanfa, 75, who suffers from several severe diseases, had been in a hospital in Xi'an. His wife said that they survive on Xu's pension, which she draws from the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) every month.

Unfortunately, Xu's bank account was blocked after Li input the wrong password three times. The bank told her that resetting the password required Xu.s presence.

Li asked the hospital for an ambulance on the excuse that he was going home, but then asked the driver to stop in front of the bank.

After failing to persuade bank staff to come out and serve Xu, Li pleaded with medical staff to carry Xu into the bank.

Several medical staff finally carried Xu on a stretcher into the bank so he could reset the password.

A bank staffer told reporters that they have strict regulations protecting clients. deposits, adding that they had given Xu and his wife priority over other clients that day.
