Smoking Chinese tourists irritate Seoul

據韓國中央日報中文網報道，在首爾小公洞樂天百貨商場總店打工的金某(19歲)將一天的工作概括為“與香煙展開的戰爭”。從上午9時上班直至晚間9時下班，他的工作就是在百貨商場附近提醒中國游客不要吸煙。金某表示，“我每天要制止200至300名中國客人吸煙，提醒他們不要在此吸煙”，“清除花壇插在深處的煙頭也是件苦差事”。[查看全文]

(ECNS) -- Republic of Korea's capital city Seoul has been irritated by smoking Chinese tourists who ignore the "No smoking" signs and dump cigarette butts everywhere, the ROK-based news website chinese.joins.com said.

A group of Chinese tourists were seen smoking on Sept. 30 next to flower beds in front of Lotte Department Store in Sogong-dong, regardless of the "No smoking" signs, and some even threw flaming butts into the flower beds.

An employee surnamed Kim at the store said he discouraged 200 to 300 Chinese tourists from smoking there every day, and "cleaning up the butts deep in the flower beds is also a tough job."

Tourist spots in Seoul are also troubled by Chinese smokers who smoke at will and don't care that there is a smoking section a few steps away.

A proposal to ban smoking in some areas outside shopping centers was handed to the city government this April, but was still in discussions, as many businesses are worried that the ban may lead to a decrease in Chinese tourists.
