(ECNS) -- East China's Jiangsu province is discussing reforms of a new plan for the College Entrance Examination (CEE), which may exclude English test scores, according to yantse.com.

Students will receive two or more tests for English a year, and their results will be assigned different grades, rather than marks for consideration for college admission, according to the scheme.

"If English scores are still included in the total, the second test will be a burden for students who want higher scores. But if they are classified as grades, students have no need to pursue higher marks, which helps alleviate their burden," said a local education expert.

However, a high school principal worried that the two or more tests in a year could lead to a rush in English teaching, causing a decline in teaching quality.

The 2016 plan for the CEE in Jiangsu is expected to be released by the end of the year.
